Golfing in Bali

Bali is a unique island. Tourists can get any entertainment they wish, they can go mountain cycling, white water rafting, boating, parasailing, trekking, night life, disco, plenty of International standard restaurants from different countries, spa, villas or economical accommodations, beach, surfing and golfing.

Bali has 3 golf courses with 18 holes, the Handara Kosaido Country Club in Bedugul that is 1000 m above sea level, cool and pleasant breeze. Then we have the Bali Golf & Country Resorts in Nusa Dua, international standard and close to main 5 star hotels in the Nusa Dua area.

The Bali Nirwana Resort and Golf Course have once won the best golf course in Asia, located near the Tanah Lot area and temple. This course was built by Greg Norman makes it a very challenging golf course. And a 9 holes city golf course at the Grand Bali Beach hotel, a superb place to play 9 holes before going on tours or business in Bali.

Handara Kosaido, is one of the favorite course up in the mountain as players can inhale the best clean unpolluted mountain air and the temperature is very cool. This is the oldest golf course in Bali built by the management of Pertamina Oil Company and at present is under management of a Japan company. They also have hotel rooms so that the local can go for a week-end and play Saturday and Sunday. This golf course is very forgiving, the grass is not as naughty as the grass at the Bali Golf, and this makes it very pleasant to have a game there and players can enjoy good scores.

The Bali Golf in Nusa Dua should be played in the morning because as soon as 10.00 in the morning when the sun shine and no breeze, it can get quite hot because the whole golf course is built on the top of chalk hill. But very conveniently located near the 9 five star hotels in the Nusa Dua area. The Japanese and the Korean love this place as they love to stay in the five stars or diamond star hotels in the Nusa Dua.

The Bali Nirwana Resort and Golf Course is the talk of the town among golfers. They have only about 200 members, but they also rent the course for public. Members and friends are having tournaments every month. The course is very challenging with a lot of rice-terraces, creeks, ocean, beach, trees and bush. Mr. Greg Norman has made sure that it is not an easy course, as a world golf player he knows that the golfers are always looking for courses with full of challenges. The more challenges there are the happier the golfer even if their scores are not as good as they usually make at some other places.

The 9 holes golf course next to the Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur is a mean course. The golfers in Bali called it the training center, when you can play good in Sanur you can play good somewhere else. The trees are old and plentiful, once a ball go under the trees you will sure loose one or two extra stokes. But since it is in the city, the working locals are happy to play there because they can play and work at the same time.
